Giriraj Singh: Union Minister and Firebrand Hindu face of BJP
He was first elected to the 16th Lok Sabha in 2014 as a BJP candidate from Nawada constituency. In 2019, he won from Begusarai and in 2024 general election he was re-elected from Begusarai.
Giriraj Singh was inducted in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government in November 2014 as Union Minister of State, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and was elevated to Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) in September 2017.
In the second term of Modi government he was elevated to Cabinet rank. He was made Union Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying in May 2019 and was elevated to Rural Development and Panchayati Raj portfolios in 2021. In the third term of Modi government Singh is serving as Union Cabinet Minister of Textiles since June 2024.
Giriraj Singh represents Begusarai constituency in the 18th Lok Sabha. He is a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Giriraj Singh is considered a Hindu firebrand face of BJP in Bihar. He is a staunch supporter of Narendra Modi.
Singh started his political career in 2002 by becoming a Member of Bihar Legislative Council (MLC). He remained an MLC till 2014. In Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government Singh served as minister of cooperative, animal husbandry and fisheries resources development.
Singh is married to Uma Sinha and has a daughter. He was born on 8th September 1952 at Barahiya, District, Lakhisarai, Bihar.
