Bihar’s small town boy Abhishek Kumar gets Rs 2 crore annual package from Google

Kumar, who completed B Tech from NIT, Patna, is set to join Google's London office in October

A software engineer Abhishek Kumar, who hails from Jhajha in Bihar’s Jamui district, has achieved a remarkable feat by bagging job offer from Google with an annual package of Rs 2.07 crore.

Kumar, who completed his Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) in Computer Science from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Patna, is scheduled to join Google’s London office in October this year.

“I have been offered a salary of Rs 2.07 crore from Google and my new office will be based out of London. I am very excited to move to the beautiful city. This is a very big achievement for me. I am looking forward to the opportunities to work in important and impactful positions in future,” Kumar said.

Kumar further said that he had always aspired to become a Software Engineer and working in a big company like Google is a big dream for every aspiring engineer, NDTV reported.

Interview strategy

Talking about his strategy of cracking the interview, Abhishek added that he had been already working in a company while preparing for the job interview. Taking out time after his 8-9 hours of job, for preparing for job interview has been a bit challenging.

“I had to take out time for preparing for job interviews from my long working hours. Maintaining consistency and devising a proper strategy for cracking interviews is very crucial. Preparing well for coding and behavioral questions helped me in cracking the interview for job in Google,” he added.

Abhishek has an experience of working in Amazon from August 2022 to March 2023. Post this he joined a new company German Investment Bank in May to work in its foreign investment trading unit. He will now join Google in October.

Highlighting his mantra for success, Mr Kumar says that dedication and consistency are the key for achieving any thing in life. Students with dedication and consistency can achieve anything and grab big offers despite hailing from a small town like mine.

“My roots are connected to a small village where I used to live in a mud house previously. After getting the resources from my jobs, I am building the house now. I have seen all the difficulties in my life. I always wanted to improve the lifestyle and quality of life and therefore worked hard to achieve a big salary package. I will now be able to help and support my life” he added.

Who is Abhishek Kumar

Abhishek Kumar was born into a middle-class family in Jamukhraiya, Jhajja block, Jamui, Bihar. His father, Indradev Yadav, is a lawyer at Jamui Civil Court, and his mother, Manju Devi, is a homemaker.

The youngest of two brothers, Abhishek completed his early education in his hometown before pursuing a bachelor’s degree in software engineering from NIT Patna.

Abhishek’s Career

After completing his software engineering degree, Abhishek began his career at Google in 2022 with a competitive salary. However, he soon received a significantly better offer from Amazon, which extended an impressive annual package of Rs 1.08 crore, enticing him to join Jeff Bezos’ global conglomerate.

Abhishek worked at Amazon until March 2023, after which he transitioned to a Mexico-based software firm. Now, the talented young engineer has come full circle, rejoining Google with a “record-breaking” package exceeding Rs 2 crore per annum. Abhishek will be taking up his new role at Google’s London office.

Abhishek’s accomplishment breaks previous records set by NIT Patna students, including Aditi Tiwari, who received a Rs 1.6 crore offer from Facebook, and Sampreeti Yadav, who secured a Rs 1.11 crore package from Google.

Abhishek’s expertise in software development, highlighted on his LinkedIn profile, demonstrates his proficiency in programming languages, networking, and database engineering.
