Samastipur Lok Sabha: Shambhavi Choudhary, the youngest MP from Bihar

Shambhavi is the first woman to be elected from the Samastipur Lok Sabha constituency

Shambhavi Choudhary is the youngest Member of Parliament (MP) from Bihar in the 18th Lok Sabha. The 25-year-old Choudhary secured a landslide victory in Samastipur Lok Sabha seat, defeating Sunny Hazari of the Indian National Congress by a margin of 1,87,251 votes.

She has won the election on the ticket of Lok Janshakti Party(Ram Vilas) – LJPRV. Choudhary is one among the four candidates who managed to clinch victory in the 18th Lok Sabha Election 2024 at an age of 25 years. She is the youngest MP from the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Other three candidates who have been elected to the 18th Lok Sabha at the age of 25 are: Pushpendra Saroj and Priya Saroj from the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Sanjana Jatav from the Indian National Congress (INC).

Shambhavi is the first woman to be elected from the Samastipur Lok Sabha constituency.

Family:

Shambhavi is a third-generation politician. She is the eldest daughter of Ashok Choudhary, who is a cabinet minister in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government.

Ashok Choudhary, who switched to JD(U) from the Congress, is one of the most influential ministers in Nitish Kumar’s cabinet.

Shambhavi Choudhary’s grandfather, late Mahavir Choudhary, was also a Congress member. He was a state minister when the party ruled Bihar.

Education:

Shambhavi Choudhary is a post graduate from Delhi University. She holds a Master of Arts (Sociology) from Delhi School of Economics. She completed her masters in 2022.
She did her graduation from Lady Shri Ram College.

Personal Life:

She is married to Saayan Kunal. She is the daughter-in-law of Acharya Kishore Kunal, a social reformer and former IPS officer. Saayan Kunal is an advocate.
