Bumper vacancies: Bihar cabinet approves 27,370 new jobs in different departments
The Education Department’s proposal to constitute the ‘Bihar Education Administrative Cadre Rules, 2025’ has also been approved.

The Bihar cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on April 8 approved a proposal to recruit 27,370 people in different government departments, including health, agriculture and general administration. The decision comes ahead of the Assembly election, which is likely to be held in October-November this year.
The Health Department will have the maximum recruitment at over 20,000 posts.
“The State Health Department’s proposal for the constitution of a ‘Public Health Cadre’ and a ‘Hospital Management Cadre’ for filling up 20,016 posts in different categories has been approved,” S. Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, said at a media briefing.
The creation of 3,306 ‘Assistant Urdu Translator’ posts the State has also been approved, Mr. Siddharth said, to be filled in accordance with the Bihar Rajya Urdu Anuwadak Samvarg Niyamawali (Bihar State Urdu Translator Cadre Rules), 2016. Urdu translators will be deployed in different government offices across districts, sub-divisions, blocks, and circles.
In another important decision, 2,590 posts have been created in the clerical cadre in the Department of Agriculture.
The Department of Prohibition, Excise and Registration proposal for setting up a new ‘Excise Chemical Laboratory’ in each of the six districts of Rohtas, Aurangabad, West Champaran, Begusarai, Kishanganj, and Gopalganj has been approved, with 48 new posts in different categories created for the purpose.
“The Cabinet also approved the proposals of the General Administration Department to create 35 posts of data entry operators for the Bihar Staff Selection Commission. Apart from this, 36 different posts of gazetted and non-gazetted cadres have been created for the smooth running of a 50-bed integrated Ayush hospital at Patna,” Mr. Siddharth said.
In another important decision, the Department of Education’s proposal to micro-monitor schools from the primary to the higher secondary levels to ensure good quality education in the State received approval.
Bihar Education Administrative Cadre
The Education Department’s proposal to constitute the ‘Bihar Education Administrative Cadre Rules, 2025’ has also been approved. A strong administrative structure at the block-level for strict monitoring of schools is envisaged. Assistant Education Development Officers will be tasked with monitoring schools in 10 panchayats, while Education Development Officers will monitor schools at the block level. The officers will be selected by the Bihar Public Service Commission. There are over 8,400 panchayats and 534 blocks in the State.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has been speaking of providing employment if it’s voted to power. The Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav has been emphasising that he provided five lakh jobs when he was the State’s Deputy Chief Minister for 17 months.
Hike in Ministers’ salary
The monthly salary of State Ministers and Deputy Ministers has been increased from about Rs 50,000 to Rs 65,000 per month. Their regional allowances have been increased from Rs 55,000 to Rs 70,000 per month, and daily allowance from Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,500 per day. The hospitality allowance of Ministers of State has been increased from Rs 24,000 to Rs 29,500 per month, and the hospitality allowance of Deputy Ministers has been increased from Rs 23,500 to Rs 29,000 per month. Travel allowance for discharging government duties has been increased to Rs 25 per kilometre from Rs 15 per kilometre.
